Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Al & Sally's pet-friendly?
    Yes! We allow up to 2 pets with a one-time non-refundable deposit of $50 per pet. We require that you indicate your intention to bring your pet(s) at the time of booking. To accommodate your furry friends, our rooms are equipped with pet towels, dog treats, and food and water bowls. We ask that you not use human linens to clean dirty paws.
  • What is the motel's cancellation policy?
    Free cancellation up to 7 days prior to arrival. No refunds are given for stays cancelled within 7 days of arrival.
  • Is there a damage deposit?
    There is no damage deposit, but a $250 hold will be placed on credit cards the day of check-in for damage and/or incidentals. The hold will be released within 48 hours after departure.
  • Who do I contact if I need something during my stay?
    Please note that, due to short staffing, the office is not always open. However, the motel manager is available by phone (text or call) every day from 9 AM to 8 PM at the number (219) 872-9131. For current guests: During office hours, we will make every attempt to accommodate requests for additional towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc within 30 minutes of receiving the request. If you have an urgent need outside the hours of 9 AM - 8 PM, please give us a call and send a text message to ensure that your request is documented in the event we cannot answer the phone in the moment.
  • Will my room receive daily housekeeping?
    Al & Sally's Motel does not provide daily turn-downs or other daily housekeeping services for occupied rooms. We are a contactless vacation rental-style property, which means that the cleanliness of your room will be in your hands after check-in. For stays longer than 5 days, please communicate with us for any room refreshing requests. Requests for additional towels, toilet paper, or coffee can be communicated to motel staff by texting (219) 872-9131.
  • Is there 24/7 service at the motel?
    Al & Sally's Motel functions similarly to a vacation rental-style property, which means that a staff member may not necessarily be on site at all times. We maintain a self check-in/check-out process and ask that all requests for additional needs be communicated via text message. We make every attempt to accommodate requests for additional towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc within 30 minutes of receiving the request. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate requests after 7:00 pm. All requests for additional amenities should be texted to (219) 872-9131.
  • Is the main office open?
    The Al & Sally's office does not have regular hours due to short staffing. However, the motel manager can be reached by phone (text or call) every day from 9 AM to 8 PM at the number (219) 872-9131. We can still be reached outside of those hours for current guests with urgent needs. We encourage text messages to ensure that your request is documented in the event we cannot answer the phone in the moment.
  • How far is Al & Sally's from the beach?
    The motel is less than 1.5 miles from Central Ave Beach, a 3-4 minute drive down the road to the East.
  • What do I need to know to visit the Indiana Dunes parks?
    There is so much to do in the Indiana Dunes National Park and State Park, both of which are neighbors to Al & Sally's Motel! For help planning your Indiana Dunes adventure, we recommend visiting www.indianadunes.com.
  • What amenities are in the rooms at Al & Sally's?
    Each room is equipped with the following: Technology: Smart TV with cable, bluetooth speaker alarm clock Bathroom: Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, blow dryer Dining: Mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig & K-Cups, tea, creamer, sugar, to-go cups For Pets: Microfiber pet towels, dog treats, food & water bowls The Guest House (the adjoining vacation rental apartment) also features a full kitchen and additional perks. Visit the Guest House page to learn more about what it has to offer. (Please note: full kitchen is in the Guest House ONLY.)
  • Can Al & Sally's accommodate large groups?
    Yes, and we love to do so! If you have a large group hoping to stay in the same location (i.e. for a family reunion, wedding, etc), we maybe be able to reserve multiple rooms for you with enough advance notice. Additionally, our adjoining Guest House is a full apartment that can sleep up to 8 people and features a full kitchen, living room, and dining room. You can book online or give us a call at (219) 872-9131 to discuss multiple rooms for a group.
  • What outdoor amenities are available?
    We have a lovely firepit to gather around. The children enjoy the playground, and your dogs will love to walk amongst the tall oak trees out back. Enjoy one of the many picnic tables and help yourself to one of the charcoal grills.
  • How do I check in and check out?
    Al & Sally's is a self check-in/check-out property. Check-in and check-out are both contactless processes. This means that you do not need to meet with anyone in person to access your room. You will receive a text message with your room number and door code to access your room before check-in time. It is very important that you include your personal cell number (as opposed to a work number or landline) on your reservation as this is how you receive info for checking in. Once you arrive, simply enter the code at your door and enjoy.
  • What is check-in and check-out time?
    Check-in is 4:00 pm Central and check-out is 11:00 AM Central. We cannot guarantee early check-ins, but if you have a special need for one, please give us a call in advance so we can do our best to accommodate you. If you arrive to the motel before check-in time, please give us a call to let us know you've arrived and we can let you know if your room is available for early entry. Again, we cannot guarantee that this will be the case.
  • How do I access my room?
    All rooms have a keypad lock. Your room code will be sent to you via text message before your check-in time at the motel. It is very important that you include your personal cell number (as opposed to a work number or land line) on your reservation as this is how you receive info for checking in.
